State YF&R Committee Chair
As I look back and reflect on the last year it has been a busy one for members of the Young Farmers and Ranchers Committee. Whether it has been helping at Farmfest or State Fair, attending conferences or doing our part for membership, I am proud to say that our committee has been very active and have accomplished a lot.
At the LEAP Conference in Red Wing this past January, we had one of the largest turnouts with nearly 280 attendees. We also held our first round of Discussion Meets and had the most contestants we have had in a few years. It has made planning this year’s conference a challenge because we want to make it even better.
Mark your calendars for January 25-26, 2019 in Bloomington at the Radisson Blu. Since we are back in the Twin Cities area, we will have the state Capitol experience as one workshop track. Be sure to sign up early as that experience is a first come first serve basis. Check out the agenda here to learn more .
Throughout the year, we have been working on membership with a goal to have each committee couple make Producers Club. I am happy to report that our committee signed almost 30 new members! We will continue to strive to invite others to join Farm Bureau and encourage you to do the same. Members can sign-up or renew their membership online at fbmn.org.
I look forward to seeing many of you at the 100th annual meeting of the Minnesota Farm Bureau in November and at our LEAP Conference in January. I encourage you to bring someone with that you think will benefit by being a member of this organization.
