Collegiate and FFA Discussion Meets


Working with the next generation of leaders is vital to the success of the Young Farmers and Ranchers (YF&R) program. YF&R works with various colleges and high schools throughout Minnesota. Contact the YF&R Committee to have a representative come to your school.

Collegiate Discussion Meet

This contest is open to all undergraduate students majoring in agricultural related fields at any campus in the state of Minnesota.


Timeline

  • Campus contests are held throughout the state in the fall
  • Top representatives compete at the state Collegiate Discussion Meet during the MFBF Annual Meeting in November
  • State winner represents Minnesota at the national competition at the AFBF YF&R Leadership Conference in February

Prizes

  • Cash prize sponsored by Gislason & Hunter
  • Trip to AFBF YF&R Leadership Conference sponsored by Christensen Farms

Minnesota Farm Bureau's Triple Crown Winner

The Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation (MFBF) Young Farmers and Ranchers Program is offering an incentive of $1,000 to any individual who wins all three competitive Farm Bureau Discussion Meets – they include:

  • Minnesota FFA Discussion Meet
  • MFBF Collegiate Discussion Meet
  • MFBF Discussion Meet

FFA Discussion Meet

This contest is open to all FFA members in Minnesota.

   


Timeline

  • Regional Discussion Meets are held throughout the state
  • Two finalists from each region compete at the State FFA Convention in April
  • Top students receive a scholarship from the MFB Foundation
