Sleepy Eye FFA Advisor Katie Emmett has been named the Minnesota Farm Bureau FFA Advisor of the Year, and was honored during the awards banquet during the organization’s 106th Annual Meeting on Friday, Nov. 22 in Minnetonka.

Emmett has served the Sleepy Eye community for the past three years. Known for her self-motivation and initiative, Emmett has quickly built strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. Under her guidance, participation in FFA activities has increased, with significant successes in competitions, including a Top 5 finish in the Best Informed Greenhand contest and a third-place finish in the National Quiz Bowl.

Emmett champions project-based learning and safety in the classroom, tailoring projects to meet student interests and needs. She plays a vital role in advancing agriculture education through hands-on experiences, including supervised agricultural visits and community tours.

Her commitment extends beyond the classroom. For the past three years she hosted a Minnesota State FFA Convention Service Workshop, sharing innovative ideas with attendees on ways to support senior citizen residents in their communities. Additionally, she leads the Sleepy Eye Trap Shoot Team and coaches soccer.
