National Ag Day
On March 21, National Ag Day, nearly 130 MFBF members brought agriculture’s story to the state Capitol during Day on the Hill. Members started the day at the Capitol Mall hearing from Gov. Tim Walz, Sen. Aric Putnam, Minnesota Department of Agriculture Commissioner Thom Petersen, MFBF President Dan Glessing and other leaders before heading into the Capitol to meet with their local leaders. Gov. Walz also presented the Ag Day in Minnesota proclamation, honoring all that agriculture contributes to the Minnesota economy. On the Capitol Mall, two John Deere tractors highlighted the interactive display to raise awareness about agriculture.
Farmers to D.C.
In late March, MFBF leadership and members traveled to Washington, D.C., to share agriculture’s story with MN legislators. The group shared their personal experiences on the impact of current and proposed legislation, providing insight on both opportunities and challenges facing the next generation of farmers and ranchers. Visit the MFBF website for more information on how you can join other members on the next D.C. trip, Sept. 11-14.
Ag Day Gala
The Minnesota Farm Bureau Foundation hosted its second-annual Ag Day Gala on March 21. Over 300 individuals from all aspects of agriculture came together at the North End Event Center on the Minnesota State Fairgrounds to celebrate agriculture and its contributions to the Minnesota economy. The appetizers and main meal all featured locally sourced foods, and attendees heard from several agriculture leaders during the evening presentation.
