Livy Johnson of the Ashby FFA Chapter is the winner of the Minnesota State FFA Discussion Meet, sponsored by the Minnesota Farm Bureau Foundation and MFBF Young Farmers and Ranchers Committee.

For winning the competition Johnson received a plaque, presented by MFBF Leadership Coordinator Rachael Peterson, and a scholarship to either attend the National FFA Washington D.C. Leadership Conference or to further her education.

Finishing second was Natalie Beckendorf of the Renville County West FFA Chapter. She also received a scholarship to either attend the National FFA Washington D.C. Leadership Conference or to further her education.

“We appreciate the opportunity to provide leadership experiences for FFA members,” said Peterson. “The Discussion Meet is just one way that Farm Bureau works with FFA to develop the next generation of agriculture leaders.”

The contest was held as part of the annual Minnesota State FFA Convention, April 24-26. Sixteen regional FFA finalists from across the state advanced to the finals, held on Sunday, April 24.

The Discussion Meet competition encourages participants to have a conversation about current agriculture topics. The discussion simulates a committee meeting with the goal of finding a solution.
