Runge Wins Collegiate Discussion Meet

Jacob Runge of Ridgewater College won the Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation (MFBF) Young Farmers and Ranchers (YF&R) Collegiate Discussion Meet competition, held during the annual Leadership, Education, Advocacy and Promotion (LEAP) Conference, Feb. 2-3.
Runge moves on to represent Minnesota in the American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) Collegiate Discussion Meet competition at the YF&R Leadership Conference, March 8-11 in Omaha.
He is currently in his second year at Ridgewater, majoring in farm operations & management.
Runner-up was Kyle Thomas of the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. Also competing over the weekend were: Jayden German (South Central College, Mankato), Lily Krona (University of Minnesota, Crookston), Katelyn Mack (University of Minnesota, Crookston) and Ralph Roesler (Ridgewater College, Willmar).
Contestants in the Discussion Meet are judged on their basic knowledge of critical farm issues and their ability to exchange ideas and information in a setting aimed at cooperative problem solving.
