EPA District 5 Regional Administrator Debra Shore and members of her staff visited the Welter family farm in Stewartville on  July 23, hearing directly about sustainable and innovative farming practices to promote land stewardship for the next generation.  

Joined by leaders from several state agencies and farming groups, Shore heard directly about the important role farmers play in adapting and advancing innovative practices while ensuring productive and resilient agriculture systems.

Jason Welter highlighted the various practices they’ve incorporated on his hog and crop farm, including strip till, manure management, crop rotation and the use of cover crops.
