The Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation is proud to announce that Amanda Durow of Hastings graduated from the American Farm Bureau Federation’s (AFBF) Partners in Advocacy Leadership (PAL) program during the Young Farmers & Ranchers Conference in Portland.
For Durow, one of only ten agricultural leaders nationwide selected for PAL Class 12, this marked the completion of a two year program designed to elevate the skills of agriculture advocates. Participants complete four learning modules and travel throughout the country and internationally to strengthen their understanding of agricultural policy, trade, labor, and global food systems.
“The PAL program pushed me outside my comfort zone in a way that felt constructive and growth-oriented,” said Durow. “I’m more prepared to speak up, represent agriculture well and step into leadership opportunities with confidence.”
As part of the PAL program, Durow participated in national and international leadership experiences, including a class trip to South Africa focused on global labor issues, agricultural markets, and cross cultural farming practices. These experiences strengthened her commitment to advocating for U.S. farmers, ensuring rural communities have a strong and informed voice in policymaking.
Durow is a fifth generation crop and dairy farmer and agribusiness lender. She is active with the Dakota County Farm Bureau and other agriculture groups in her county. Her agricultural journey also includes engagement in national discussions on trade, labor, and agricultural policy.
“We’re proud of our PAL graduates and the dedication they’ve shown throughout the program,” said AFBF President Zippy Duvall. “Their commitment to strengthening their advocacy skills will make a meaningful difference in rural communities across the nation.”
Fellow graduates of PAL Class 12 with Durow are: Magen Allen, Arkansas; Jennifer Beretta, California; Jessica Graves, Mississippi; Jon Iverson, Oregon; Matt Moreland, Missouri; Jackie Mundt, Kansas; Linda Pryor, North Carolina; Chris Riley, Utah; and Karl Shlagel, Maryland.
PAL Class 12 was sponsored by AFBF, Farm Credit, Syngenta, John Deere and Merck Animal Health.
