Henry Lemky of the Eden Valley- Watkins FFA chapter is the winner of the Farm Bureau FFA Discussion Meet, sponsored by the MFBF Young Farmers and Ranchers Committee and Minnesota Farm Bureau Foundation.

For winning the competition, Lemky received a plaque presented by MFBF Leadership Coordinator Rachael Peterson, and a scholarship to either attend the National FFA Washington D.C. Leadership Conference or to use to further his education.

Finishing second was Dessa Terning of the Dassel-Cokato FFA chapter. She also received a scholarship to either attend the National FFA Washington D.C. Leadership Conference or to use to further her education.

“The Discussion Meet is just one way that Farm Bureau works alongside the FFA to develop the next generation of agriculture leaders,” said Peterson. “We are always impressed with the students taking part in the competition.”

Also advancing to the final four were Emily Nelson (Ashby FFA) and Keeley Runge (St. James Area FFA). A total of sixteen regional winners from across the state competed in the finals, held on Sunday, April 21 as part of the annual Minnesota State FFA Convention, April 21-23.

The Discussion Meet competition encourages participants to have a conversation about current agriculture topics. The discussion simulates a committee meeting with the goal of finding a solution.
