Roger and Linda Sauerbrey of Mayer received Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation’s Honorary Life recognition for their decades of leadership, advocacy, and service to Minnesota agriculture at the organization’s annual meeting on November 21 in Minnetonka.
They were recognized alongside Greg and Mary Bartz of Sleepy Eye and Donavon Stromberg of Mora.
Roger and Linda raised their two children on their 120-acre farm near Mayer, where they raised chickens, hogs, and beef cattle. From 1969 to 1990, they farmed together before renting part of their land to keep it in production. Together, Roger and Linda have devoted decades to Farm Bureau, their church, local schools, and community programs.
A Farm Bureau member for 62 years, Roger has held nearly every leadership role within the Carver County Farm Bureau, including 10 years as vice president and 26 years as president. He has participated in Day on the Hill, Council of County Presidents meetings, policy development sessions, and Farm Bureau trips to Washington, D.C. Roger is also known for mentoring youth and involving local FFA members in legislative visits to develop their advocacy and leadership skills.
An Army veteran, Roger honors fellow veterans through his service as commander of American Legion Post 601, vice commander of the Carver County Veterans Council, and by playing trumpet at local ceremonies.
