Members of the Nicollet County Farm Bureau gave back to the local community, volunteering at the St. Peter Food Shelf on March 16.
Volunteers unloaded 6,000 pounds of food for the pantry in less than an hour, and also gave a monetary donation.
The Minnesota Farm Bureau works closely with its county Farm Bureaus and members to support rural communities and the issues most important to them through special events, classroom learning and other engagement opportunities. As a grassroots organization, activities coordinated at the local level have a great impact in supporting the communities where our members live.
To specifically address food security, county Farm Bureaus can apply for hunger solutions grants from the Minnesota Farm Bureau Foundation. In 2022, 28 counties received grant funding from the Foundation. Partnering with local organizations and businesses, the counties leveraged their grants to raise more than $10,000 in support of local hunger programs.
