We are currently hiring for a Leadership & Education Specialist!

The Leadership & Education Specialist will plan, coordinate, and deliver high-impact leadership development and educational programming that strengthens members, volunteers, and emerging leaders across the state. This role partners closely with volunteer committees, especially the Young Farmer & Ranchers (YF&R), to execute programs, events, and competitions; support signature leadership programs; and expand engagement through youth initiatives. 

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the staff coordinator for the Young Farmer & Ranchers (YF&R) program and committee
  • Assist committee volunteer leaders and staff with carrying out the objectives and goals of the YF&R program, including YF&R competitions
  • Develop innovative strategies and programs, in cooperation with the respective state committees to meet the purposes of the leadership and education programs
  • Inform and promote to county Farm Bureaus the leadership and education programs and activities
  • Assist in coordinating the annual leadership conference (planning, implementation, and facilitation)
  • Coordinate and collaborate on various projects, activities, meetings, events which are held throughout the year, including scheduling on-site and off-site meeting/events
  • Assist with Urban Agriculture programming efforts
  • Coordinate new and existing leadership programs such as The Herd, LeadAg Institute, and Collegiate Farm Bureau
  • Coordinate Farm Bureau’s involvement with youth programming, including (but not limited to): collegiate discussion meet, 4-H, and FFA
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Support the MN Foundation for Agriculture (MFA) by promoting and encouraging county Farm Bureau support and participation and by assisting and attending MFA events
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in agricultural leadership, communications, education, or relevant field
  • Working knowledge of agriculture
  • Work experience in agriculture or related field
  • Ability to engage and guide volunteer leaders
  • Demonstrated capability to work independently, as a self-starter, in a proactive fashion to recognize necessary steps for successful accomplishment of projects and activities
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to build consensus and relationships among board members, partners, and volunteers
  • Time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, plan workload effectively and delegate
  • Personal computer literacy with skills and knowledge of MS Office products with ability to expand computer capabilities to develop additional skill sets for new systems as required to match changing circumstances. Excel proficiency a plus.

Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
